Indoor or Outdoor Table Tennis Table?
The Cornilleau range of Table Tennis Tables are available in both Indoor and Outdoor versions, so which one should you buy and what is the difference? |
INDOOR TABLESIndoor table tops are manufactured from a special composite wooded particulate board, such as MDF. These tables have special paint applied, which is cured under UV lighting. Indoor tables must not be subjected to a damp atmosphere, such as a garage or garden building, as any exposure to moisture will cause damage to the playing surface.
Although Indoor Table Tennis Tables aren't weather resistant, they do provide an excellent bounce, are very stable and are good value for money. These types of tables are also used in competitions. |
OUTDOOR TABLESThe outdoor table tops are manufactured from resin laminate sheets and are 100% weather resistant against the sun, rain, snow and frost. Outdoor Tables can safely be left outside throughout the year.
Outdoor tables are also suitable for use indoors as well or in a garage or playroom. Although they are a bit more expensive, they are longer lasting and provides you with the ultimate versatility in a Table Tennis Table. |
Playing Surface/TopThe bounce quality varies according to the top. The thicker, the denser, and/or the harder the board, the higher and more uniform the bounce will be as there is a direct relationship between the thickness/density/hardness of the board and the quality of the bounce.
FramesThe playing surface sits on a frame, which varies in thickness from 35mm to 80mm. The frame increases the rigidity and the flatness of the board, so a thicker frame will produce a flatter board. All Cornilleau tables have a frame manufactured from steel alloy, zinc and aluminium for the best in corrosion resistance.
CoatingThe MATTOP anti-glare coating is 10 times less reflective than standard tops. These tables also have an improved spin effect.
Tables with a SOFTMAT Top anti-glare coating reflect 3 times fewer rays than standard tops. The SKILTOP playing surface is used on Cornilleau’s Competition range. This is a quality treatment to create strong table tops with a high-quality, long-lasting surface that ensures a reliable and regular bounce. |
Leg LevellersThe leg assembly determines the stability of the table so broader legs are more stable. Some tables are supplied with leg levellers which allow for adjustment on uneven ground. Most tables have been designed for wheelchair play.
WheelsThe wheels assist you in moving the table and must stand up to resistance. Larger diameter wheels enable the table to roll easily whilst brakes provide greater stability. Outdoor tables have notched wheels to make movement over rough ground easier.
Net & Post SetCornilleau use either steel or ABS for their net posts and cotton or polypropylene for the nets. Cornilleau tables are always supplied with a permanently mounted net and posts set and most have some adjustment for the height and tension of the net.

Retractable Net The net automatically retracts between the tops when the table is closed to optimise storage space and reduce breakages. |
